Are You Feeling The Passion Yet?

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Hey Smart Women! Happy February—the Passion Month! In each newsletter this month, I’m going to share weekly tips on how you can create a passionate, loving relationship with the most important person in your life—You. As women, we offer our love and support to so many people and we sometimes put ourselves at the bottom of the “love” list. There are 4 areas in a woman’s life that need continual love and attention—Mind, Body, Relationships, Creativity. This week, I’ll focus on something to love and nurture your Mind.02-05-09heart

Passion Tip for the week: Find a quiet place to sit alone and enjoy a cup of your favorite coffee or herbal tea. Sit quietly. Listen and feel each breathe you take. If you are sitting near a window, look out and find a piece of nature that interests you. Take in the beauty around you and the beauty within your soul.

Two great books to nurture your Mind: (both are quick reads with wonderful meaning)

Sue Bender – Every Day Sacred
Christina Baldwin – The Seven Whispers

I’m offering you the same Passion Tip that I plan to use myself! Many of you know that my husband Greg has been ill and in the hospital. He’s back home! WooHoo! He is feeling stronger every day. The support has been amazing. So many people have called, emailed, and stepped up to do whatever it takes to support our family. My heart is full of gratitude.

Smart Women Make Amazing Things Happen

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

The month of March is a very important month if you are a basketball fan.  It’s “March Madness” and there are games from every team around the country participating in playoffs and finals all month.  We are big basketball fans at our house.  I was watching a game this week with my children and a commercial came on for the NBA.  Their slogan this season is “NBA—Where Amazing Happens.”  They were highlighting their best players and talking about reaching dreams and goals.  It got me thinking about placing ourselves in the right environment so that “our amazing happens.”

I’m a big believer that women need the right environment to make their amazing happen.  I rarely come up with my big ideas unless the environment is right for me to be creative.  I like a quiet, reflective environment where I can see lots of nature—trees, flowers, grass, blue sky.  This is a big topic of discussion in my Women’s Success Circles.  I invite each woman to determine where her best environment might be to create her “amazing life.”  This is why I have all of my Success Circles at the Inn at Playa del Rey or work with women at the Channel Road Inn.  It’s a peaceful, reflective place where women can think about what they really want to happen next in their life.

Smart Women Dare To Dream

Friday, March 14th, 2008

Recently, in one of my Women’s Success Circles, we had a conversation about the difference between a dream and a goal.  The majority of the women agreed that a goal is something that is attainable while a dream is unattainable.  One member said, “It’s something you think about but it would probably never happen.”  While I understand the thought process, I don’t agree with it.  I realized a dream within the last week and it was really through the power of intention that it became a reality.

I want women to know how strong the power of intention can be.  I have been “dreaming” for more than a year about living in a community where my children could walk to school.  Notice that I said the dream was about seeing my children “walk to school.”  I had developed a dream, an intention about the lifestyle that I wanted for my family.

As most of you know from my article last week, our family moved (from our old house of 10 years) to a new house and guess what?  We are walking to school!  How did that happen?  How did I make the dream come true?

Here is what I know:

When you have a dream, you have to become very intentional and focused on making it happen.  Most of the time, we dream about an idea or something tangible or intangible that we would like to have happen and then we release it—why?  We do not have the belief that it’s attainable.  Or it’s the wrong dream for us.
